CSC Race Team Information: 2011-2012

             Race Team – Making Skiing and Boarding in Ohio Fun!

             All Skill Levels and All Ages are Welcome!

Want to have more fun skiing in Ohio and improve your skiing at the same time? Join the Race Team! We have two races per day every Saturday and Sunday at Mad River Mountain during the race season. And we also have great practice and coaching sessions that help you improve your skiing both in and out of the race course. Anyone who is a member of CSC can join. You can race as much or as little as you want and ski as fast or as slow as you like. Skiers and snowboarders of all ages and abilities are welcome. Challenge yourself and enjoy the friendly competition of ski racing.

Cost: It's only $85 for adults and $55 for juniors (ages 0-18). Lift tickets not included. Signup's continue all through the season. Stop by the race team table at any ski club meeting or find us in the Trophy room before 9:00 am at Mad River Mountain any race day. When and Where: Most weekends January through March. See the 2012 race season schedule for dates and race start times. We race at Mad River Mountain in Bellefontaine, Ohio.

What You Get: We have two races both Saturday and Sunday most weekends plus some practice clinics. You get two runs through every race course, hear your time announced after you cross the finish line, and then we all get together in the loft for some après ski and to award gold, silver, and bronze medals. With several divisions everyone has a chance to win a medal!

In the fall we kick off with some killer pre-season workouts on Sunday mornings at 10AM at Griggs Dam and in November we have season opener/ orientation party. During the season we have several parties including a wine and cheese party, picnic on the hill, and probably a couple pizza lunches in the loft. In the spring there’s a big end of season party with trophies, food, and more fun.

Want more racing? You got it! In March you can go to the OVSC Governor’s Race in West Virginia (expenses not included in the fees above). And in late January there’s a very fun Open Race that welcomes the public (this race has a small entry fee too).

Organization: The Columbus Race Team is directed by a 10-member Committee dedicated to making each race season enjoyable for all participants. Our home resort is Mad River Mountain located in Bellefontaine, Ohio, only a 40 minute drive from Dublin/I-270.

Skiing/Race Practices: These lessons alone are worth the cost of the program. Practice clinics are scheduled mostly on Tuesday nights in January and February, with some on Saturday or Sunday mornings (check the schedule below). Classes are small and are led by at least one trained Mad River Mountain Racing coach. Basic skills required for improved Skiing and Racing are emphasized during these lessons.

Racing: Don't be intimidated! If you want to step up to the next level or even get better for those big mountains out west, racing is sure to help you! Competition is friendly and fun! Races are scheduled every weekend from the first of January through early March. Most of the races will take place on the Ski Club's home hill at Mad River Mountain.

Participation: The racing program is for everyone's enjoyment! You can participate as much or as little as you wish. You are encouraged to attend practices and races as much as possible but nothing is required.
