Volleyball: 2009-2010
This gets kind of complicated, so listen closely. There are four types of volleyball offered by the Columbus Ski Club. They are listed and defined below. Find the best one for you and then use the Volleyball Locator to find out more information about it.
Social Pickup Volleyball
This is open to anyone at any skill level. It is perfect for Ski Club members who prefer a non-team, no coaching, no referee, limited rules, social volleyball evening. Emphasis will be on social etiquette, letting everyone play and no ball hogging!!
Social Competitive Volleyball
For the competitive team-minded player, the Ski Club fields 16 teams with 7 members on each team. Each player is rated, and all the teams are balanced to insure parity. Coaches and assistants test your current volleyball skills and assist in your development. A minimum skill level is required.
Competitive
Volleyball
The Ski Club fields competitive volleyball teams to play in the Columbus Recreation and Parks Department Winter Volleyball Leagues. The Ski Club has teams that participate on Monday and Thursday in these Leagues that run from October through February. Tryouts are required for positions on these teams.
Sand Volleyball
The Ski Club fields as many teams as we can get in the summer sand volleyball leagues at Flannagan’s on Sawmill Road just south of I-270. The six person per team league is held on Mondays. Each team consists of four men and four women. If you want to play with a specific person or persons, every effort will be made to accommodate the request. The league runs for eight weeks with an additional week for tournaments of qualifying teams.
