The Club is returning to one of our favorite Western destinations for the popular, first-of-the season ski trip. Breckenridge is a charming, Victorian ski town that has it all. The town is celebrating its 150th anniversary this year.
In addition to Breckenridge, your 3-day lift ticket is also valid at Keystone, A-Basin and one day can be used at either Vail or Beaver Creek. (We should have the mountains to ourselves on Thursday and Friday.) So much skiing...so little time! Lodging is at the Village at Breckenridge Plaza Condominiums at the base of Peak 9, adjacent to the Quicksilver Super 6 chair lift. Besides the great skiing, Historic Main Street offers tons of dining, shopping and nightlife.
|
| |
|
| Trip Details: |
Your package includes roundtrip air fare from Columbus to Denver, roundtrip ground transportation, four nights lodging (2 BR/2 BA) and a 3-day lift ticket. Randy and Nora are working on an optional group dinner, meeting for lunch on the mountain and après ski.
|
| |
|
| 9/17 Updates: |
- Breckenridge Ski Resorts reported it's getting cold and has started turning white already. They had a rainy year and are hoping that indicates a snowy winter. They are scheduled to open November 12.
- We have a private mountain tour scheduled for our group at 10 a.m. Thursday morning, but you must sign up in advance with your trip leaders. The tour will be led by a volunteer, and there is no charge. Intermediate skiers and above only.
- The final payment of $350 is due at the October 7 CSC meeting. Remember you must be a current member to participate, and annual dues renewals of $29 are due now. Checks are appreciated.
- A shuttle to Vail and Beaver Creek will be available for $30 to Vail and/or $35 to Beaver Creek for groups of five or more. See freshtrackstransportation.com. If you plan to rent a car, be prepared to pay $25 to park. There are free shuttles to Keystone and Araphahoe.
- Did you realize the cost of this year's trip only increased by 3.5%, and we're staying at the base of the slopes (Peak 9) this year? Once again, bags fly free.
- Watch the website for pre-party and optional group dinner announcements.
|
| 10/21 Updates: |
The Breckenridge pre-party has been scheduled for Monday, November 23, at Roadhouse66 Bar & Grille from 6:30 to 8. Come early to enjoy happy hour prices from 4pm - 7pm. To keep orders flowing smoothly, management has asked us to order from the wait staff in the room reserved for us rather than starting tabs at the bar. Randy and I plan to be there early. The Roadhouse66 Bar & Grille is located at 480 East Wilson Bridge Road on the corner of Wilson Bridge & Worthington Road.
In addition to meeting your condomates and others on the trip, we will cover:
- Distributing travel documents
- How much luggage flies free
- Free optional mountain tour
- Welcome party
- Optional dinner
- Rooming list
- Flight schedules
- How to prevent altitude sickness
- Discounts on rental equipment
- Aprés ski
Presently, the trip is full with one on the wait list. Anyone on the wait list or thinking about getting on the wait list is invited to attend.

When “old man winter” drapes a fluffy white mantle on Quebec, it can only mean its Carnival (in French it's "Carnaval") Time. Snow baths, night parades, slide runs, outdoor cinema, giant table-soccer game, concerts, snow sculptures, sleigh or dogsled rides, Ice Towers and skating are among the many activities you can see or do while at Quebec’s Carnival. We will be staying at the Manoir Victoria, a 4 star hotel located in the heart of Old Quebec, keeping you close to all the action. With its fortress walls, stone buildings and cobblestone lanes, come see why Quebec is considered to be the most European city in North America. Quebec also has two great ski areas: Mont-Sainte Anne and Stoneham. Also, up the road a bit is Le Massif, the area's newest ski area. Lift tickets and transfer fees are not included. |

Your package includes: roundtrip airfare from Columbus to Quebec (through Chicago) on United Airlines, roundtrip transfer from airport to lodging, five nights lodging at the Manoir Victoria (2 per room) with American buffet breakfast daily.
There is a wide variety of activities in the Quebec City area that are reasonably priced. They are all à la carte and generally quoted in Canadian dollars ($1.00US = $1.05C...it's a bonus for us). |

Sun Valley started as a playground for European nobility and Hollywood stars in 1936 with a tradition of “roughing it in style” that continues today with a laid-back comfort you can only find in Idaho. We will be staying in the Sun Valley Resort Village during a “ski club week”, which will allow you access to racing, après ski parties and other events that Sun Valley will be hosting while you’re there. If that isn’t enough, the old west town of Ketchum with its shops, restaurants and night spots is just right down the road. A resort shuttle service provides you access to both the slopes and town. And it’s the bright, comfortable, sunny days that combine with long, wide-open groomed runs and awesome scenery that provide the reasons for Sun Valley’s skiing appeal. |
