Familiarization (Fam) Trips

Once in a while, a ski company or ski area will want to feature a particular area. To do this, they offer reduced cost trips to the area. In the past, this would include transportation, accommodations, food, etc. Essentially, an all expense paid trip. This has changed over the past several years. Currently, the ski company/area will offer reduced rates for accommodations and perhaps lift tickets. Transportation is only rarely offered. So, if a Fam trip to the Alps is offered, it will not be free, but may cost several thousand dollars depending on how long or extensive it is. Nevertheless, the Ski Club needs to research some of these areas for future trips, and so Fam trips are made available on a priority basis.

What is expected of you if you choose to go on a Fam trip?
1. You are expected to represent the Columbus Ski Club in a responsible way.
2. You are expected to participate in all scheduled activities. That is, do not take off with a friend and go bar hopping.
3. You are expected to submit a comprehensive Trip Report of the area. Report forms are attached.
4. You are expected to communicate with other Fam trip participants and compare notes.

The following are some Fam trip materials that can be viewed and/or used. The Word column contains a form that can be updated electronically if the user knows how to use Word forms. It also contains an example as well as the number of pages for each document. The PDF column contains the form and the example in PDF format. Each document has the same number of pages that the Word document has.
