Hold on to your hats and sunglasses, CSC is going to take you on the rafting adventure of your life. We will be running the Upper Gauley River.
The Upper Gauley River offers five of the top nine sought after rapids in the world. Come on down and see the best rafting West Virginia has to offer. The operator we will be running with has an amazing facility. There is a pool, 18 person hot tub and the fireside pub at the outpost where we will be camping, not to mention the rafting!
This trip is during 'Gauley Season.' Over six weekends, the Army Corp of Engineers draws down the water level of the Summersville Lake. This results in some of the first class white water rafting in West Virginia! Whitewater rafters come to the Upper Gauley to be challenged by Class V whitewater.
We will car pool down on Friday and set up camp (not much to do here). You get two nights camping; tents provided and already set up on platforms so you don't have to drag your own. A cocktail reception will be hosted at the campsite by CSC Friday evening. You will get a hot breakfast before we head out to the river, hot BBQ lunch at Sweets Falls (the best place to watch other rafters) and a very nice dinner back at the outpost Saturday evening. Breakfast Sunday morning and then head back at your leisure. |

Yes, the CSC is returning to the fun filled party island for a weekend of sun, island adventure, water sports, and partying. What a great way to celebrate the club’s 50th anniversary than at Put-In-Bay!
There will be 4 people per room. We will be staying at the Put-in-Bay Resort and Conference center located right off the main drag at 439 Loraine Ave. Rooms are poolside with the trip including room, ferry pass, and party. This is a car pool trip. The resort includes a Tiki bar with poolside seating and a 40 person poolside Jacuzzi.
You can rent a golf cart, bicycle, moped, or parasailing to get around the island. For the outdoor water adventurers there are Watercraft rentals for Jet skis, jet boats, power boats, and kayaks. The island also offers a 9 hole golf course at Saunders Resort Golf Course. Heineman’s Winery, which has been making wine on the island for more than 100 years, offers tours of the winery and wine tasting. There is also an Island tour train to get the history of the island. Learn how Heinemanâ’s Winery survived the Prohibition era (hint: the Crystal caves).
For the island entertainment on that weekend the list starts with the Menus at the Beer Barrel Saloon, then continues with Pat Dailey at the Boathouse, Mike Mad Dog Adams at the Roundhouse, The Ray Fogg Show at the Brewery, Pop Rocks at the Boathouse, A.K.A. Band at the Boardwalk, Clay Underwood at the Beer Barrel Saloon, Brad Moore (who knew!) at the Boathouse, along with the DJ Billy at our hotel in the Put-In-Bay Resort poolside. Get on a 52 passenger bus with 47 other Ski Clubbers. Party, socialize, sing songs around the bus driver on your way to Champaign, IL. Eat and drink all the way over there. Refreshments are provided. Scream and shout during a football game for three hours. Get back on the bus. Drive back to Columbus, OH. Try not to make eye-contact with your bus-mates for a week or two. Quiz: How many empty seats will there be on the bus in case you have to stretch out for a while?
If it is a night game, there will be an overnight stay at the La Quinta hotel in the Indianapolis area. |
